En 1957, à Detroit, un Plymouth Fury rouge est construit et est à l’origine de deux accidents, dont un mortel, toujours dans la chaîne de montage. Vingt-et-un ans plus tard, Arnold, «Arnie» Cunningham, un jeune homme infidèle et persécuté, se promène avec son meilleur ami, Dennis Guilder, et voit la voiture détruite en vente dans un jardin. Arnie tombe immédiatement amoureux de la voiture. La voiture a reçu le nom de Christine par son premier propriétaire. {fbt_gallery_post}
